Rick Joyner's Comments on Todd Bentley's Marriage
9 March 2009
by Joie Pirkey
I was informed yesterday via Facebook that Todd Bentley of the Lakeland Outpouring got married to the woman he had an affair with during those Lakeland meetings. I went to his site to see
if it was true and found many people posting their congratulations and blessings. Then this afternoon I recieved a notification that Rick Joyner had commented on these recent events.
So I posted this response:
"I just read Rick Joyner's comments about the time that he is investing in you, Todd. I am so deeply shaken that I am going to take some time to pray about my response. For now, let what the Lord told me
before Lakeland became well known, stand for itself.
(For link, click here.)
I will be praying that God's heart in all of this is made manifest."
I am sending this newsletter with all of this information because I believe that what has happened at Lakeland and after, is a perfect example of what the Lord is speaking to regarding cleaning up the Church.
Todd's sexual sins and false testimonies and so on were not the main concern that the Lord was showing me. The main concern was the way the leaders and the people were not allowing Christ to be the Head. God has been speaking
to me a lot lately about the state of the Church and His desire to reform things and I believe that He is wanting to show us some very serious things through what has been and is unfolding through what
happened in Lakeland.

Here is the link for the newsletter article "Speak the Truth" written by Joie Pirkey. Even though "Speak the Truth"
was posted on September 5th 2008 it still speaks to the situation that is evolving from Lakeland. My motivation for
sending this today is that while reading Rick Joyner's comments and those of so many people supporting Todd's behavior I am deeply troubled at many levels about the immaturity of the Church,
and the lack of obvious Biblical principals being practiced in this situation. The Church is in a desperate place and God is speaking about cleaning it up. It's time for all of us to hit our knees and ask the Holy Spirit to do
the very job He is described to have in the New Testament; convict us of our sin.
I am very curious to hear your comments on this. You may post on either Facebook or the blog.
