12 December 2008
by Joie Pirkey
Hey guys! I am sending this newsletter directly from Kigali, Rwanda. Wow! What a trip. Douglas and two Board of Director members are here, Alwyn Christy and Brenda Blair, along with Brenda’s husband
Elvin Blair. We are having such a great time. God is so evidently working in every little detail and we are accomplishing so much! Praise God who cares about the suffering of orphans!
Yesterday Brenda and Elvin took food supplies and soaps out to the orphans on the land. We were excited to find out that the church that meets there has grown rapidly. They have three choirs!
(we have videos of them!) Pastor Emanuel told us that they baptized 65 people last month! And their cows had a calf! How great is that?
Alwyn, Douglas, and I have had a plethora of meetings with key business men in Kigali all week, addressing our questions about birthing businesses that will be able to feed finances into our missionary
work here and also serve to strengthen and positively impact the economy in Rwanda. Doors are opening every day and the future looks amazing from what we can see God doing through and in us.
I have so much to tell, and I am eager to get back to tell you all the exciting details, show you the video clips, and get you all up to speed at the Dinner for Rwanda on December 18th.
If you haven’t purchased your tickets yet please do as soon as possible because there is limited seating and you won’t want to miss out on the fun! It truly is going to be a great night.
Brenda and I went shopping this afternoon for some really cool Rwandan crafts for the event. The nativity that the stub of your ticket has a chance at is beautiful! We will be putting together
little gift baskets as well full of these interesting works of art to be available at the Dinner for a donation. Hope to see you all there!
If you are unable to attend the Dinner but want to give, please use the Contribution button on our website

We gave Candy Canes to the children. This is Brenda. She is three years old.
For some of the children, this will be the full extent of their Christmas. For some of them, this will be their only food for today.
